Evolution, Ecology, and Biogeography of ThimbleberryThimbleberry (Rubus parviflorus) is widespread shrubs throughout North America, but has a patchy disjunct range. Even more interesting, across this range a species of specialist gall wasp inhabits this plant. We are currently looking at the biogeography of this interaction as well as chemical and morphological variation of thimbleberry within its disjunct endemic range. Our goals include identifying drivers of environmental variation that may control the evolution of the the gall wasp relationship as well as identifying traits that may provide for introduction of horticultural varieties. We are taking advantage of a common garden experimental design at Utah Valley University

Many of these projects would not be possible without the help of collaborators. I am always looking to work on research with others. Please don't hesitate to get in touch and see if there may be an opportunity to collaborate on these projects.
